Being the poster that asked about Shugart hard drives, I should follow up.
Shugart IS ALIVE and making at least floppy drives. I don't know who owns it or

  Do you mean Alan Shugart is alive and his company Seagate Technology
is alive and selling 60% of the hard drives in the world? True. I don't
think the old Shugart Associates company which made floppies is still
kicking, though. I haven't seen an ad in a dealer mag for one in years.
