Hi, a friend has a a problem, perhaps someone can help.. Problem: Tandy 3000NL does not recognise a 3.5 1.44 Meg drive. Equipment: Tandy 3000NL, with : 386sx Upgrade. Memory Upgrade (Currently 2 Megs) Mono Monitor & Herc. Card. HD/FD Controller. (IDE) IDE 40 Meg Drive. 1.44 Meg Drive. 360K Drive. Dos 4.0 The 1.44 Meg drive in question appears to be a Tandy, it has the following cryptic numbers written on it. "2A9" "8790145" "TB91871805", * ANY * Information on this drive will be helpfull. Story: Both the 1.44 and 360 were attached to the system board. but would not format disketts. Turning sw5 on the mother- board to the off position, and jumpering the HD/FD controller to enable the FD's and attaching them to the HD/FD controller as an attempt to remedy the original problem... The original cable did not have a twist in it and was too short to reach the new controller. A quick stop at the local PC shop brought back your standart FD cable with a twist in one end. The 360K works fine, and can format now alas the 1.44 no - go.. The new cable? Does Tandy use a weird type of cable.. I did notice there is no power plug on the 1.44 drive..
