All of the tape drives that I have seen so far connect to the floppy controller or require their own controller board. Are there any tape drives available that connect to the second hard disk connector rather than the floppy disk connector? There are tape drives connected to SCSI ports, if your harddisk controller is SCSI type, you may consider SCSI tape drives! stephen@hantsq.enet.dec.com

I read the headers on two articles, one regarding a Unix Driver for Colorado Memory Systems Jumbo tape drive system and one on "HARDDRIVE International Beware" The articles have expired so I am not able to reply directly to the authors as I don't have their Internet addresses. CMS sells a SCO UNIX 3.2 Driver for their tape drives. The price is $195.00. A bit expensive given that one can obtain the drive for $239 on the street. Is anyone aware of any other sources for less. What was the caveat regarding HARDDRIVE International about? I was about to purchase a CMS tape drive from them. One last note. Has anyone heard of Prometheus modems. I saw an advertisment for a 9600/4800/2400/1200 V.32,V.42 error correction compatible modem with MNP 5 error correction and data compression for $699. It also had 9600 BPS Group III send and recieve Fax. It included Fax-it and procomm software. The modem has a two year warranty. Anyone have any positive/negative experiences with Prometheus.
