[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Could I solder.....

woolard@uns-helios.nevada.edu (MIKE WOOLARD) (10/30/90)

have a Laser Compact XT at home and I need a new keyboard. I have it
taken apart and in pieces, and would like to also PUT IT IN A STANDARD
-----XT CASE.

Has anyone ever taken a portable and put it in a standard case? This is
kinda different because the PC is in layers; what I mean is it is
somewhat like a Apple, having the keyboard over the motherboard, and
the disk drive on the side.

I really need a keyboard (standard type), but there is no standard Jack
to put it into. The keyboard module inside attaches to an cable that
accepts sic (6) pins like this:

					The cable attaches

Are these a standard I/O on the internal organs of the Ibm PC clones?
Could I solder the leads from a standard keyboard to these?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
