Here's a good'un: Does anybody know how I can convert a 300mb 97963B HP disk drive into a 300mb type 47 HP drive? This may sound stupid, but let me explain: I have a spare 300meg 97963B drive that was intended for one of our HP3000s, but I want to use it in my RS/25C instead. I have examined the drive, and in my non-hardware eyes [read 'disclaimer'] it appears to be the exact same drive as a type 47 300mb drive. The only difference besides the chassis is 1 chip. I can't remember the chip number off the top of my head, but it appears to be the only thing stopping me from using it. I have tried already to use it as a type 47, but FDISK scanned it for about 45 minutes, then hung. Since then, FDISK will not talk to it. I may have fried something, in which case I'll have to get it repaired anyway, so perhaps that would be a good change to change this rom/ram chip. So how about it... Any ideas? Doug.
