I have 3 hardware related questions.
1. I currently use an Adaptec 1542A SCSI controller with a CDC Wren IV
drive (326mb). I was wondering whether anyone knows what the new
1542B controller rev buys you and is it an upgrade an experianced
end user can get and install on a 1542A?
2. I have still not found a 'bootable' or 'non-bootable' OS/2 driver
for the 1542A. This means I only have my sluggish 62mb MFM Rodime
drive available under OS/2. Has anyone seen a 154x SCSI driver for
OS/2 1.20 (IBM Standard Version).
3. Related to #2, I have just picked up a Toshiba 140mb ESDI drive.
A) Will an ESDI controller conflict with the 1542A? The current
WD MFM controller doesn't.
B) What controller do you recommend? I do not want a real *fancy*
caching controller. I can't afford it. The lower priced Western
Digtal 100(6|7), Adaptec 2322 (I think thats the number), or
the Ultrastore 12F all seem to be in my price range. Any comments.
Any of them have got to be an improvement over the MFM drive
I currently use as C drive. And none will probably out run
the SCSI drive.
Mail if you wish. And thanks for any advice/comments.
Jeff
