Well, fellow netlanders, I got this DFI 386sx with AMI bios and I think it's great! However, I have no documentation for it and didn't know what to type at the CMOS setup. I've typed various things, without notincing an improvement in performance, but sometimes noticing more and sometimes less extended memory available. Basically, I don't know what to do with these options. What good are they? What do I want? Video Bios Shadow: Disable/Enable (Currently Disabled) Scratch RAM option: 1) Using Bios stack at 0030:0000 (1) 2) Reducing base memory by 1kb Main Bios Shadow: Disable/Enable (Currently Disabled) 512k to 640k Disable/Enable (Currently Enabled) Total RAM relocated:0k, 128k, 256k, 384k (384k) This setup gives me the most extended memory to play with. I like multi-tasking under DESQview so I guess this is what I want. I've noticed that if The Main Bios Shadow is enabled at boot-up, I don't have the 384k option and (no matter what I choose for RAM relocation, I'm always 128k short? Why would I want to choose any of these other options which allocate less extended RAM? Also, why would I want to deallocate standard memory from 512k - 640k? I thought one could never get enough of this? Second question. This machine was sold to me as a 16mhz machine. Is it turbo-switchable between 8 & 16 mhz? How would one accomplish this? Moving a jumper? (There is *one* jumper on it, I think.) How fast is my machine running now? Is there a way to tell? I get 1.85 on the C&T mips program & 15.4 on Norton's si. Is this what I ought to be getting? (BTW, I have all 8-bit cards installed right now since I just recently upgraded from my v20 XT.)
