No compatibility issues.  I think you are on the right track with the
DMA rate.  To get a clue if the adapter will function properly at the
DMA you set, run the bus master test at g=dc00:9.  This test uses the
current setting of the DMA transfer rate to test with.  If it fails,
back the DMA rate down.
