I am planning a month-long auto tour of the U.S. with my family. I have put together a rough itinerary and route. Problem: How to fill in the details, i.e., travel time estimates, good intermediate stopping places, etc. I am considering joining AAA just long enough to get a "Trip-Tik" and have them work out the nitty-gritty details. Any alternate suggestions? Thank you for replying by electronic mail. Warren Koontz

I ahve made the cross-US tour by car a couple of times and STRONGLY recommend the AAA (in my case I used the Canadian AA) Trik-Tik. In addition, the booklets describing the various states are quite useful. Most of all though, the trik-tik serves to warn one of special problems, sites to note, and allows some exploring since maps of the region to be crossed are provided. I have never come across any realm substitute (I only had a trip-tik the second time across). Gregory Dudek, ~v (phooey, no vi. Sorry about the typos).
