I asked a question about my AST Rampage 286 on the net recently and got back a couple of replies asking for switch settings. On my board there are two switches S1 has ten bits and S2 has 8. S1-1 to S1-4 is the amount of conventional/extended memory the board is to provide. Note that these switches are ignored depending on the setting on S2 . . . 1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4 ON, ON, ON, ON is 128K ON, ON, ON, OFF is 256K up to OFF, OFF, OFF, OFF which is 2048K S1-5 to S1-8 indicates the boards Base I/O Address 1-5 1-6 1-7 1-8 208 ON, ON, ON, ON 218 ON, ON, ON, OFF (Factory setting - 1st board) etc S1-9 enables/disables Dual Page Mode. The Factory setting is enabled (ON) S1-10 is Unused. S2-1 to S2-7 is the amount of conventional/extended memory ALREADY installed on you system. (Number of 128K blocks like S1-1 to S1-4 above). S2-8 Enable Parity Checking if ON.
