Is it possible to have a MFM harddrive and a SCSI or IDE drive exist on the same computer ? I have an old 8 bit MFM harddrive (Seagate ST225 and WD XTGEN controller) and I am wondering if it could be used in say a 386sx system that already has an IDE or SCSI drive installed ? I would like to have the additional storage space available, but I'm not worried about the speed of the old disk... Is there any way to mix harddrive types with an old MFM drive and controller?? Email; or post if you're the exhibitionist type... I'll post a summary if content and volume is evident... Thanks, Ross Bannerman banner@mitel.com(.uunet)

It depends, I think, on which SCSI you use. If, for example, you use an Adaptec board (e.g., the AHA 1542B) , the answer is yes. The other drives are c (and d, if that is applicable), and the SCSI disks are tacked on after that. If you want more than 2 hard drives total, you need to buy an additional driver, though. -- Wade Guthrie (evil@arcturus.UUCP) | "The likelihood of one individual being ...uunet!ccicpg!felix!arcturus!evil | right increases with direct proportion to Rockwell International; Anaheim, CA | the intensity with which others are trying My opinions, not my employer's. | to prove him wrong", Mr. Jordan
