[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Problem with Nanao 9070U Monitor

waycott@phx.mcd.mot.com (John Waycott) (11/07/90)

I recently purchased a 386 system with a Nanao 9070U 16" VGA monitor.
I have replaced the monitor twice and all of them have the same problem:

When certain colors are displayed on the screen, such as dark green or grey,
a set of light and dark bands can be seen. The curvature of the bands
suggest a magnetic field interference, but there is nothing in the room
which would generate a field strong enough to cause the interference.

The bands move when the screen is rotated, so it appears to be an influence
of Earth's magnetic field. Degaussing the monitor makes no difference.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

(Regarding strange banding pattern when certain colors are displayed.)

I've seen a problem similar to what you describe on a 9070S, but not severe
enough to warrant returning the monitor.
