I'm thinking about the future of our PC interfacing course
here at Tech and think that EISA would be they way to go. I've
researched the PS/2 fully but am frustrated with its completely
different physical connector. Are any of these points for EISA
not true?
-EISA bus can handle ISA (XT) cards by not letting them
seat completely in the connector.
-XT designs require no changes to work in EISA bus machine
-Software for XT cards in EISA bus require no changes
We currently have PC's with an "extended slot/protoboard" for
students to do design work on.
My goal is to have a machine that will replace our dieing
1983 PC's AND allow more advanced designs in the future or
higher level classes.
Any input on EISA hardware design would be fully appreciated!
