I had following experience: FAT table and/or directories of my hard disk went nuts (maybe my fault, maybe Unisys's NOW! disk cache). Anyway, I formatted the disk, or actually a logical disk of 32Mbytes from a 80MB harddisk. When I checked the disk after formatting with DIR, it told that I have 4.8M byte free ! This is about the same size as there were before formatting. When I checked the disk with CHKDSK, it told that there are 32MB bytes free. When I tried again with DIR, it told that there are 32M bytes free. So, where does DOS keep its information of the size of the disk ? -- Arto V.
