[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Rack mounted PC source sought

sher@bbn.com (Lawrence D. Sher) (11/08/90)

I'd appreciate any pointers to sources for rack-mount PCs. Many thanks.

We've had good luck with a couple of Texas Microsystems machines. We
cooked them in Palm Springs last summer when our trailer's air
conditioner died. We think it got to over 130F in there. It was about
120F outside. They still work. Their number is (713)933-8050.

You may want to contact Industrial Computer Source in Framingham, MA.
Their number is (508) 879-1032.

No connection, just a happy customer.

Intergrand in Visalia California (209-651-1203) make very nice
cabinets. They have been making racks since the old S-100 days and
their stuff is pretty rugged.

You can mount a standard motherboard, power supply and drives in
them.

Texas Microsystems has a good, rugged, albeit expensive rack-mount
chasis line. They have 8- and 16-bit passive backplanes and
CPU boards (including 386s). They use the Chips&Technologies chipsets
and seem to be *very* reliable.

Note -- my only connection with TMI is as an employee of a satisfied
customer, your milage may vary, etc...
