I am trying to put a Seagate ST-110something-AT IDE hard drive in a Hyundai 286E. The mother board has an embedded IDE controller, but the bios doesn't support the seagate drive parameters (1021c, 5h, 36spt). The bios doesn't offer a user defined type. Also, the only software that I have (Disk manager, Speed Stor, HardPrep/PartEd, Spinrite II, HD Test) either won't accept non-standard types or won't partition the drive. Hardprep, for instance, will let me define the drive parameters, but loses the configuration as soon as you exit the program. Speed Stor will do it all in one program, but won't accept non-standard drives. Changing the hardware is not an option. Any ideas? Please? Please send advice, information and stress-relieving IDE jokes to bryan@tahoe.unr.edu, since I don't regularly read this newsgroup. I'll compile the answers and post them when I get it to work.
