[net.followup] forwarding mail

As a reply re: someone's note on the forwarding of mail.

The quote was:

"Why do most sites arbitrarily forward mail?
Running netnews can increas productivity in certain fields,
	but why mail?"

1)	Mail allows users to discuss things without boring the entire
net, i.e., I am attempting to "increase my productivity" with
a 3277 driver (have one, maybe??) but once I have requested
it from the net, do you all want to read all about how I'm
negotiating for it or whose body I'm selling? Isn't this
obvious? Is that what you meant by "arbitrarily"? Just who is
	going to decide for me?

2)	I don't work in a body shop. I work with computers because I
enjoy them. SOME companies have realized that people usually
prefer to work 12 hours of their own choosing/environment rather
than 8 of someone else's. When I no longer enjoy computers I will
quit, and depriving me of the net, and the fun I have writing
to other people or net.singles etc. will hasten that day, believe me.
	(Cheers to /dev/null.)

3)	Frankly, my dear, your question just doesn't make sense.

p.p.s	It would be VERY nice if those sites that DO NOT forward mail
would advertise that fact, it might actually reduce your mail,
'cause all the people that are sending out test mail to find out
	if you do could stop.

I agree with rlgvax!thekid (rlxvax.261) that it would be nice if sites
which forwarded USENET but not mail would advertise the fact. However,
given that they do not, why don't those of us who have lists of suspicious
sites exchange such sites?

Perhaps postings to net.news would be most appropriate?
