[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] XT-286-31 Motherboards

gt4824a@prism.gatech.EDU (gt4824a BEKER,PAUL) (11/04/90)

Recently, I've been seeing ads for "286-XT 31 Mhz" motherboards for
~$65 (0K). I know that 286-XT's exist... But a 286-31 for $65??

Is this possible?? I have to assume it is, as I've seen at least two
seperate places advertise them, but was hoping someone out there had
tried one.

Thanks! Paul Beker .. gt4824a@prism.gatech.edu

To my knowledge, the fastest certified 80286 is 20Mhz. Anything faster is
pushed.

Outrageous speed claims like this refer to the landmark speed test. It
is a comparison with a PC running at 4.77 Mhz. Divide 31 by 4.77 and it
should run about 6.5 times faster than an original PC, so it sounds like
it's a 6 Mhz 286 in there.
