PRO: Incredible quantity and variety of pretty-good food. No need to handle cash for a week. Easy way to spend time surrounded by beautiful scenery. G.O.'s are multi-talented and lots of fund. Price reasonable compared with independent travel in Bahamas. Incredible variety of activities available. You can learn rudiments of SCUBA and do two dives in a week. Meet lots of interesting people from all over the world. They teach sports as well as make them available. Little contact with the outside world. CON: Little contact with the outside world. Primary language is French; accents cause problems. G.O.'s are mostly French; attitude is sometime curt. Dealing with the "bank" (storing valuables) is a hassle. No keys are issued to doors of rooms. Rooms are simple, spartan, but sufficient. A/C availble. Place is a little run-down but they work hard to maintain. Bahamian natives apparently throw trash everywhere -- even ocean. There's so much food that much goes to waste (shameful). Events are scheduled so they often overlap. Long walk to some of the rooms. SUMMARY: All in all, we would return. It was a fun week once we got used to some of the rough edges. Did a lot and had a great time. It's expensive -- unless you compare it to other places. Certainly a "low-hassles" vacation.
