Just thought I would post some infopertaining to a discussion Brian Stretch and I had that started from his net posting re prices on 2400 baud MNP Level 5 modems. in my newest Jade Computer catalog/mailing, their house brand "smartcard" version is $98 (can you believe it?) and and stand alone version is $158.Their 9600 baud stand alone MNP Level 5 is $598. 800 phone numbers are (in Cal) 262-1710 and (US excluding Alaska) 421-5500 My experience with Jade is as the owner/user of a used XT which originally came from Jade. The only problem I had was screws that loosened holding the floppy drive. I bought it used. The unit works well. Documentation stinks, but what do you expect if you're looking for bargains? i.e. if you're not reasonably computer literate, you would do better elsewhere.
