Between those two, I could (and did) spend a day (with my 5 & 8 year old sons). Also, Universal Studios offer tours, for a price. I imagine bus service is available from main LA spots to their place. UCLA has a beautiful campus, with lots of interesting stores and places to eat in that area. There's an easy day there. Tours (bus) exist, such as Gray Line and others. Southward, there's the Queen Mary in Long Beach. That's good for a day. There are tours for maybe an hour or two, plus shops, plus a museum if I recall it correctly. I believe Howard Hughes' "Spruce Goose" will be unveiled for public display somewhere down there soon, too. Then there's Disneyland, of course. Knott's Berry Farm is O.K., but I pre- fer Disneyland. Disneyland is fantastic, for young and old. There's an observatory/planetarium in the hills--Griffith Park, I think it's called. If you're into astronomy. A bus ride or short flight gets you to San Diego; they've got a world famous zoo, very beautiful. All of southern California has fantastic beaches, if the weather's at all warm. Public transit is the pits, but buses do exist between key points such as airports, Disneyland, Queen Mary, etc., so you should be able to get around. If this information reaches you, try to let me know, as I'm very new to this communication tool. I'm at Zehntel, but not sure of the net address. Have fun in LA.
