I have an ancient Leading Edge model D (integral video and floppy controllers) to which I'm trying to add some more modern peripherals. I installed a hard drive with no problem, but I'm now trying to add an external tape unit, and can't get it to work! The story so far: The tape unit has its own controller which is supposed to be daisy- chained between the floppy controller and the floppy drive. When I put it in place, the software can't find the tape drive. Next, there's a jumper on the motherboard that, if removed, is supposed to allow me to use a different floppy controller, from any slot. However, when I pull it and add a new controller, I get a "Disk Bad" message at boot time. I've tried to swap in two different controllers, and have gotten the same message, so I doubt that the problem is in the controller. If anybody has any experience with one of these, please contact me!!! I have a tape backup unit and a high-density drive that I can only use for paperweight until I resolve this. Thanks!
