Has anyone out there in netland had any experience with a proprietary board AST sells for its old Premium 286 machines, upgrading the latter to a 386? (I'm fairly familiar with the configuration: 16mHz (only), dx, up to 8mB RAM [used to be 4mB], fits in a "fastram" slot). Obviously, I'd prefer to sell my 286 and then buy a 386, but if I cannot get a good price for my 286 I'd like to consider upgrading it now that AST has dropped its price (substantially) for the 386 card. A vendor (not an AST vendor) has told me that one of his clients reported this upgrade to be "unreliable" -- but I've had no direct contact with anyone who has tried it. I'm also concerned about the ability of such a machine to run OS/2 2.0 when it comes out, but that's another issue. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Douglas Baer, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada N6A 5C2 Internet: BAER@UWO.CA Bitnet: BAER@UWOVAX
