[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Looking for help on IBM Professional Graphics Display Adapter

jms@silvlis.com (Jan Strobbe) (12/18/90)

Some time ago there was a factory sale where I bought an IBM PGD color
terminal for an IBM PC. The package included also the graphics controllor
board. I thought I had done a great deal. However I soon found out that the
board did not match with the type of terminal. I called the company where
I bought the stuff and they said they would look for the board. After a while
I checked again but they said they were still looking. Last week I called again
but this time I didn't get far. The phone was disconnected and I found out
that the company went bankrupt.. So now I am on my own

I also found out the the IBM Professional Graphics Display was a type of
monitor sold by IBM that had a rather short life in the market. It was very
expensive and never very popular. That type later got replaced by the EGA
type of monitors. The PGD monitor needs a Professional Graphics Adapter
(PGA) controller board . I've tried to locate such a board in surplus
stores but had no success until now. I tried a couple of computer swap
clubs , no success there either.

The PGD display is a 640 by 480 color raster display . It operates with
separate red, green and blue analog signals and can support an infinite number
of colors .
Max video bandwith is 17 Mhz.
Syncronization is activer low,TTL compatible at freq of 30.12Khz horizontal
and 60.02 Khz vertical (non-interlaced).

My questions: - Is there somebody who has a Professional Graphics Adapter (PGA)
                board for a reasonable price?
(The board takes up two slots in the IBM)

              - Does anybody know if a currently available Display Adapter
(VGA,CGA,EGA) can be used or modified slightly so that it
would work with my PGD monitor?

All help is greatly appreciated. You can email any suggestions to me
