[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] PCjr CGA monitor

kgreer@x102a.harris-atd.com (greer kl 01472) (12/18/90)

Hello. I have an old PCjr video monitor that I want to hook up to a
standard CGA video card. The problem is that the monitor cable has some
seemingly non-standard rectangular-shaped connector and I do not have the
pinouts.
First of all, can this be done? I presume I can cut off the PCjr
connector from the cable and solder on a standard 9pin. However, I need to
find the pinouts of the monitor cable first. Can anyone out there offer some
advice? Even better, would someone happen to know the PCjr monitor pinouts?
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance. E-mail would be fine.

First of all, are you sure you want to do this? The PCjr uses MCGA,
which is, as you probably know, a little more than CGA. The PCjr is
already fully compatible with CGA.

Of course, you can always check the "IBM PCjr Technical Reference
Manual," but I can't remember them at the moment.

If you don't have a PCjr, and just the monitor, remember that the
PCjr's monitor is a color composite (I don't know if this makes any
difference, but I seem to recall that some programs wouldn't work on
my jr just because it was a color composite and not some other type).

Hope this helps...
