Actually, the inscription "DECUS et tutamen" commemorates
something that dates from a far earlier time than even
the British Empire or Britain itself.  I am referring,
of course, to the ancient Egyptians, who had a maintenance
contract with DEC, signed by Tutankhamen himself.  The
spelling on the coin was truncated because of space
restrictions.
