Since a lot of people wanted information about my trouble with the Cyrix math coprocessor I will post a summary. 1. The machine is a 25MHz 386 clone with Opti chipset and AMI BIOS. 2. When the Cyrix coprocessor is installed it is not 'seen' by the machine. That means everything else still works like it should, but the software is not able to use the Cyrix processor. This problem (according to the dealer of the clone) is specific to the Opti chipset. 3. If the Intel 80387 is installed it works fine. 4. According to a local Cyrix representative this might be due to some idle states that the Cyrix use to conserve power. Summary: The Cyrix processor is electrically incompatible with the Intel processor in some very rare instances. Be especially aware if your machine use the Opti chipset. Jan Eri
