I'm trying to figure out the pros and cons of dot matrix printers (specifically the Epson LQ 510, a 24pin, 80 column, letter quatlity printer) and the Canon BJ10 bubble jet printer. The latter is said to have resolution of 360 dpi and I've seen it advertised in San Diego for about $315, about $50 more than the LQ510. I'd appreciate it if any reader who has used the Canon bubble jet printer would let me know their recommendations (by e-mail, please, I'll be glad to summarize). Specifically, I'd like to know what sort of mechanism does it have, how robust it is, whether one can refill cartridges (assuming it has cartridges), and what sort of command language does it have, whether there are drivers for it for use with TeX and WordPerfect or with PostScript and what are its graphics capabilities. shankar subramanian ssubrama@keynes.ucsd.edu
