I am looking to get a 286 system for my father. I am stripping off an old original Comapaq that is dead for 3 years, a Video 7 EGA card, hard disk, 5 1/4"drive, and multifuntion board. Question: What is a good vendor to order a base 286/12 without video card or hard disk drive. I have not worked with IBm's for 3 years and I am not trying to assume that I remember everything that needs to be done to accomplish this task. By the way do I need to worry about the differnces between AMI, AWARD, Pheonix BIOS? Thank you Frank Deming fdeming@aecmail.prime.com

I had several peripherals that I had accumulated over several years of up grading. I bought a system from Compuadd. They have wharehouse type stors in addition to selling through the mail. They were happy to sell me the "box" with no keyboard, hard drive or monitor. Their mother board has an IDE drive controller built in, so you may have to buy a hard disk controller. Sorry, I can't find their toll free number, but you can reach them in Dallas Texas at 214-553-8440. They can send you a catalogue. I have no connection with Compuadd, just a satisfied customer.
