[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] A Question About 16-bit VGA Cards

glenn@cs.utexas.edu (Glenn G. Lai) (12/27/90)

I've been searching for a 16-bit VGA card that supports at least 800x600x256.
However, the ROM in my PS180-16F (not PS180-16FN) HD/FD controller insists on
taking residence at C800 and my PS-160FN manual says that changing the address
to D800 "may solve the problem with the VGA video adapters." Since I can't ask
my HD/FD controller to change its mind, I'll (possibly) need the cooperation
of the VGA card I'm going to buy. If you have any info about this, pleas send
an e-mail message to me. I'll summarize. Thanks.

Seems that's where all Western Digital controllers reside too...
Anyway, I doubt that you'll have too many problems, so why don't you
just buy from a place that allow returns.
