[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] IBM XT/286 memory

mussi@manolo.inria.fr (Philippe Mussi) (12/27/90)

I just opened my old IBM XT/286 and found 2 small memory cards,
very similar to SIMMs, each with 256K. Is it possible to swap them
with 1M or 4M SIMMs, in order to get 2 or 8M of extended memory?

That machine uses 256K x 9 150ns SIMMs, but they are not replaceable with
larger SIMMs because the address control lines are not there. The only way
to add memory to an IBM XT/286 is with a memory card.
