I was looking for a fast, preferably 486-upgradable 386-33 PC, when
I found the following company in MicroTimes:
Gallant Intelligent Computers (GIC)
El Monte, CA 91733
(818) 575-0866
486-25 System:
AMI BIOS
128 Cache
4MB meg main memory to 16MB
TEAC 1.44 & 1.2 MB floppies
100 MB IDE harddrive
AT BUS FDD/HDD Controller
SuperVGA w/512K
SuperVGA Monitor 1024x768
2 seriel, 2P, 1 game ports
Big Tower case
250 watts power supply
101 Key enhanced keyboard
All for only $2,890
Sounds good, but.... I called them up and it sounds like a typical
oriental PC clone setup. I start to get nervous when the "technician"
isn't know what UNIX is ("Sure, it will run all software...").
Anybody have any comments are know of reputable 486-source at or near
these prices?
Thanx, Marc Ries
