I will be leaving this weekend for a month long bicycle trip that will take me through Ontario to an eventual destination of Harrison, NY. I have just recently recieved the detailed county maps of Ontario and have found that there seems to be a very large shortage of secondary roads. I need to get from Sault St. Marie to Montreal and it seems that Highway 17 is probabally the most dirrect route. What I'd like to know is, if there are so few secondary roads is this 17 going to be a continual stream of passing semi-trucks?? Does anyone know what type of shoulders exist on this road???
