[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Mystery Modem

santeew@dogmatix.cs.uoregon.edu (John Wes Santee) (01/10/91)

Hi netland!

A friend asked me to post this for him in hopes that someone would know the
answer (smart reason 'eh?)

A friend of his just gave him an old internal modem that came with no
documentation. From what we can tell, it is an Everex 1200B modem, circa
1985 (copyright message on modem). There are two sets of pins that must
have jumpers set accordingly. The first set is a line of 6 pins that is
labeled "COM 1-4" that is located on the upper left portion of the card,
right above the modem speaker. There are two jumpers on there that must be
set correctly for the modem to work for certain COM ports. Does anyone out
there know how Everex set these jumpers to work with COM 1-4?

Also, there is another jumper that is on the lower 1/3 of the board (in the
center) that is just 2 pins with one jumper. Does anyone know what this
set's up?

The only markings that we see on the board is the number: EV-920 if that
means anything to anyone.

Also, the jumpers are those little black doo-dad's (lovely description,
no?) that cover two of the pins at a time.

Any and all help would be appriciated. E-mail is fine.
