[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] PANASONIC 1180 PRINTER BUFFER CHIP INFO WANTED

lee@lonex.radc.af.mil (Lee Ritter) (01/13/91)

I recently purchased a Panasonic KX-P1180 printer. There is a 32K buffer
chip that can be purchased to expand the buffer of this printer. Does anyone
know what the generic memory chip number is and where it goes? The kit to
add the extra memory from the dealer is $55 and this is way out of line for
a memory chip. Any help on this item would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I used a Toshiba TC55257-10 chip (because I had it in my junk box), but
any JEDEC-standard 32Kx8 SRAM (like the 43256) should do. This will cost
around ten dollars. To install it, pull off the platen knob, and press
two plastic spring latches (one on either side of the front edge of
the printer). The cover should hinge open backwards, and the RAM goes
into the empty 28-pin socket behind the platen.

Good luck.
