[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Cheap Dataglove for PC?

koziol@yoyodyne.ncsa.uiuc.edu (Quincey Koziol) (01/17/91)

Hello,
Does anyone have any information about relatively cheap Datagloves
for an IBM-PC machine. These would not have to have great resolution in the
joints and anything, just a starter kit type thing for us to play around with.
These will may be used for Scientific Visualization software we are developing
under MS Windows 3.0. Any information would be much appreciated, e-mail or
in the notesfile.

Not a dataglove, but a similar input device on the cheap -

There is a new controller out for nintendo which senses the location
in 3D space of your hands. The device is L shaped, like an opened
laptop, and is used by Nintendo for fight games and such. I think it
uses sonics and transponders, I'm not sure. When the manufacturer
announced, they said they would make a PC compatible version. This
isn't out yet, but you might be able to convince them you are a minor
developer. Cost is around $50 for Nintendo. You might even be able
to interface to the available hardware through a parallel port.
