[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Barcode scanners: recommendations?

I'd like recommendations for barcode hardware, the kind that connects
between the keyboard and cpu so that extra software is not needed.  The
lastest issue of PC Magazine has ads for at least 8 suppliers -- direct
experience with vendors/manufacturers would be particularly interesting.
