Well, I just returned from a 7 day cruise to Bermuda and the Bahamas from New York. It was PHENOMENAL!! I have never eaten and drank so much in my life! We went on the Oceanic, of the Home Lines, which I thought had excellent accomodations, food, and facilities. We stopped at Bermuda and Nassau for a day apiece. Nassau was dirty and slumlike, so we spent the day at Paradise Island instead. The water was crystal clear and warm. We went snorkeling for the majority of the afternoon. I liked Bermuda much better though. The water was just as clear but the island as a whole is much "quainter" than the Bahamas. We rented mopeds for the day and spent a few hours exploring before heading for the beach with the PINK sand. The speed limit on the island is 20 mph which made it a bit safer for mopeds (once you got used to the cars driving on the wrong side of the road!) than in the Bahamas. The food aboard ship was delicious and plentiful. They served food seven times a day!! Liquor on board was not as cheap as I was led to believe by the travel agent (1.50 for domestic beer, 2.00 and up for mixed drinks). The entire trip ended up costing me about $1500 for the week but it was well worth it!! I'd be glad to discuss further if anyone would like to know more about any of the particulars (what to wear, what to tip, etc.) John Barrett American Bell Inc. Lincroft, NJ 07738 201-576-3504
