[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Sources for AT Bus timing specs

Greetings all!

A few days ago I had posted an SOS for info on ATBus timing
specs for DMA etc. Thanks for the helpful responses. I did
go out and buy the suggested book: AT BUS DESIGN by Ed Solari
The book is comprehensive and covers most issues. But I felt
that the description was obfuscated by the fact that it tries
to explain the ISA, E-ISA and EISA bus standards all at once
leaving you to pick your way through for your requirements.
Although the delivery was prompt (48 hours from faxed P.O. to
book in your hands) I could find no justification for the $70
price tag. At that price the book is a rip-off. If you are
looking for an application notes type of approach you will be
disappointed. In my opinion it would be better to get the
ISA and E-ISA bus standard specs from IEEE and the EISA bus
standard specs from COMPAQ CO. (appearantly the EISA bus specs
were developed by a consortium of companies lead by Compaq).
But if you are short on time the book is a godsent. Hope you
find this info helpful. Thanks again for the help.
