I have a Sony 1304 (with a Gateway 2000 33MHz system), and I noticed after about a week of using it, that there is a barely noticeable horizontal shadow about 33 to 40% up from the bottom. It is not so dark as to make me think a scan line is out, and it is evident in all modes/applications. I have the standard issue Diamond Speedstar 1Mb video board (Tseng 4000). The Gateway tech. said that every Sony 1304 has this "feature". He said it is a wire that causes the slight shadow on the screen. Can anyone confirm/refute this? (BTW, I am happy with the system, 200Mb Maxtor. The so-called "shadow" is barely visible, and the Sony 1304 looks great.) Kipp Kreft kipp@gistdev.gist.com

All tubes of this type from Sony have that line. My friend had a
color Mac screen that uses the same tube as the 1304 and he had
the same wire. Nothing to worry about. Just slightly annoying if
you are a purist.

The IBM RS/6000 monitors we have here have two such lines each. -- +-------------------+----------------------+---------------------------------+ | JERRY J.
