I am ready to purchase a 386 system but since I will be working mostly with text files and such, I would like to have a MONOCHROME monitor, yet I would like to be able still take advantage of all the SVGA modes up to the 1024x768x256 NI modes. I like squeezing lots of text onto a screen but color adds great limitations to this for me. The big problem with color is dispersion of the three NARROW spectral lines of RGB most phosphors use (and ALL in the TV and computer monitor markets to get that great color saturation which I could just as well do without). I have mediumly strong eyeglasses that are not chromatically corrected (any ideas where to get some better glasses is another possible solution). Text on narrow spectrum RGB monitors simply appears as text split in three colors unless I use foreground/background combinations that differ in only one color (e.g. green-on-black or magenta-on-blue). Are there any big MONOCHROME monitors that might be adaptable such as those found on workstations or X terminals? -- --Phil Howard, KA9WGN-- | Individual CHOICE is fundamental to a free society <phil@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu> | no matter what the particular issue is all about.

Well, you could look for NEC's Multisync GS series. I believe the 3D does come in a GS version. This would either be paper white or amber. It will take all VGA signals, and most sVGA signals.
