I have a friend who has what appears to be an original IBM PC/XT. He has had some problems running certain pieces of software, which may be due to lack of memory. He has 256k on the motherboard and an extra 128k on a "MAXIMISER" add in card (using 64k DRAMS). The card has enough empty sockets to be populated with a further 256k of 64k type DRAMS. I have the appropriate chips, but I am worried as to whether any DIP switch settings may have to be altered. He has no information on the card (it was installed by the previous owner). If anybody has any information on this expansion card (or can point me in the right direction) I would be very grateful if you could EMAIL me with the details. There is very little in identification on the card, apart from the name "MAXIMISER" and the date "!983". The card looks quite nice, and appears to have a parallel port, a real time clock, a serial port, with an empty socket for a second serial port chip. I would like to know whether there is also a game port (a demo game disk acts as if the joystick fire button is depressed ???). Additionally how do you make use of the real time clock, as I assume that the XT's BIOS doesn't support it. Would the board have originally come with suitable driver s/w???? Thankyou. --Gary ============================================================================ Gary Morton Inmos Ltd, Aztec West, Bristol | EMail(UK) ----------| +44 454 616616 X523 |------------| gary@brb.isnet.inmos.co.uk The opinions above are my personal views | EMail(ROW) and may not reflect Inmos policy. | gary@brb.isnet.inmos.com ============================================================================
