[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Software/SCSI Bios Conflict

AVP100@psuvm.psu.edu (02/01/91)

Hi,
   I have a DTK 2503 386/25 running with a WD1006 HD/FD controller and a ST01/1
6k BIOS SCSI controller. The controller BIOS is 3.1.9 and it came with my Syqu
est 44Mb removable drive. The problem I'm having is that old programs such as
games or even newer programs using a non-Dos booting scheme causes m system to
error and go to the 'Hit F1 to continue or run SETUP' msg. The system refuses
to boot any of these programs at all. When I pull the ST01 card, all the progr
ams operate normally. It seems the ST01 bios is conflicting with the SCSI bios
on the ST01 card. BTW, I also tried removing the SCSI driver from my config
file, but the programs don't work that way either. Any ideas on the problem?

                                           Thanks
                                           A.P.

I have an ST02 so...

Look in the Segate book that came with the ST01 (I hope). It will tell
you how to change the BIOS address to one of 4. There is the default (C000??)
and 3 others settable by a jumper block. I know my future domain board is
set to the highest of these so as not to conflist with the other things in
my 386.
