I spent July 23/24 on Lake Powell - Glen Canyon Dam. The weather
was perfect and the lake was beautiful! I've been on the lake
5-6 times since 1978 and have seen it at different levels. It
is now full so some of those perfect camp sites are under
water. The lake is actually over its maximum design level.
Full is defined to be 3700 feet elevation and it was
3707.77 on 7/23. It reached is max on 7/14 - 3708.34 ft.
It's business as usual at the lake. The fish are not
biting but the water skiing is great and the water is always
a delight.

From everything I've heard about the canyon before the dam was built,
if you think the lake is great, you should see whats UNDER the lake!

Re: Glen Canyon was pretty before they filled it

You're right of course, thats clear if you look below the dam.
Far be it from me to suggest that electric power, flood control,
irregation and cleaner water justified filling Glen Canyon, but
I don't intend to let that stop me from enjoying it! By the way,
the number of people who have seen Rainbow Bridge since the
dam was built is 2-3 orders of magnitude more than saw it
before the dam was built.
