Some quick questions... (1) What registers have what values by the time the boot program is loaded off the disk (actually, what can you be sure that *any* bios will have set), and (2) what bioses keep the 486 CPU sequence number somewhere (the value of one of the accumulators at start up). (3) Is this the only thing approximating a PC serial number (other than Ethernet address) or do some BIOSes have a sequence number of their own??
