I was looking through the manual for my motherboard lately, and it claims that the AMI BIOS has to be configured for A certain Hard Drive type. A typical entry is # Drive Type Cylinder #heads Write precomp Landing Zone Sector XX Seagate 10MB 733 7 -1 733 17 Can somebody with some spare time please tell me what all these things are? And why is it that my Hard drive is configured as type NONE (it's a... SCSI!) Any help would be great. ./*- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ storm@cs.mcgill.ca McGill University It's 11pm, do YOU Marc Wandschneider Montreal, CANADA know what time it is? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Your system probably doesn't support SCSI drives on its CMOS so it has to look to the SCSI controller for its drive info. Ussually, the system CMOS only supp orts MFM,RLL,IDE drives. PS/2's a higher end systems will have ESDI support. A.P.
