I have a PC clone and my girlfriend has a Mac LC and we were both going to buy printers when I thought, "Hey, instead of spending $X on each printer, lets get a better printer for $2X and share it between the two machines (they are only a few feet apart anyway)". Well, there's my delima: there are several ways of doing this: 1) I can get a regular printer and use a Grappler to hook it to the Mac, then use a A/B switch to change between the two machines. 2) I can get an AppleTalk compatible printer, and an AppleTalk card for the PC. Boy, a LAN at home! 3) I can get a Postscript printer and hook it to both machines, either with an A/B switch or using the multiple input ports of some of the laser printers. Actually, option 3 appears to be out do to the high cost of PostScript laser printers. Has anyone done either 1 or 2 and care to share their experiences/advice? Please Email, since I get on the system infrequently. Thanks. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Curtiss | <Future world leader in training> curtiss@neptune.phys.ufl.edu | - Standard Disclaimers apply -

Actually, a Postcript printer (HP IIP w/ PacificPage PS card) is about $1300. [Relatively cheap] OR try HP has Appletalk for their laserjets. HP just dropp ed their price on IIP's [I think the IIIP will be debuting] to $800. Note: If you want to use the PacificPage PS card you NEED 1.5Mb memory on the printer. You could try other PS cards like the HP PS+ or the PCPI PS+ [cheapest, $250] A.P.
