We have several machines with IDE controllers in them. (Cards and not built into the motherboard). They only support two floppy drives and 2 hard drives. I understand that somewhere there exists IDE controllers that support more than 2 floppies. Ideally I would like to have 4 floppies and 2 drives. (Sounds crazy, but we need to support all the different formats). Since you can't reliably format and write to low density floppies from high density drives, this is what creates the dilmena. Is there any easy answer, other than having several machines? Thanks for any info, and I will post if there is any interest. -- >.. CCS Enterprises, Inc. .. Bob Willey, CDP ..< >.. P.O. DISCLAIMER: I never used, nor do I know anyone that has used this product ... I am just passing on info I saw in an ad ... Wonder Systems (415)490-6290 has a device called ws-ide4 that supports 2HD + 4FD for $34/1. They are also completing a 2HD+4FD+2S+1P controller for $45/1 If anyone has tried this product, please let me know how well it works as I am quite interested in such a product myself. leoh@hdw.csd.harris.com Leo Hinds (305)973-5229 Gfx ... gfx ... :-) whfg orpnhfr V "ebg"grq zl fvtangher svyr lbh guvax V nz n creireg ?!!!!!!? ... znlor arkg gvzr

Will keep you posted. I have found one card that supposedly is a 2HD and 4FD controller. Noname as of yet, it is on its way (2 of them actually) and similar pricing. If this does not work I will try the Wonder Systems. It will be so nice to have 5-1/4" low and High density and 3.5" low and high density for conversions and the like. It is frustrating sometimes, to need a utility and to find it on a high density machine and the customer's machine is an XT with a 360K, and no communications to dial into our BBS. Oh well, goes with the territory. -- >.. CCS Enterprises, Inc. .. Bob Willey, CDP ..< >.. P.O. Drawer 1690 .. uunet!consult!bob ..< >.. Easton, Maryland 21601 ..
