[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Ahead VGA problem

apollo@raven.bu.edu (Doug Chan) (02/17/91)

I've got a VGA board which has a problem displaying 1024x768 256 colors.
When it is running in that mode, the picture has lines of randomly blinking
pixels (sort of looks like a TV with a bad reception).

-The board works fine all the way up to 1024x768, 16colors.
-The severity of the problem varies w/temperature of the RAM.
-The board uses the Ahead V5000 chipset.
- 256Kx4 80ns memory chips

What could be the problem?
Video RAM not fast enough? (I ruled out a flaky RAM since this is the
second board sent to me with the same problem)
