[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Floppy Drive Jumpers?

km@mathcs.emory.edu (Ken Mandelberg) (02/19/91)

I have an Okidata 1.2MB 5.25" floppy drive, with no data sheet. Can anyone
help me identify the purpose of the jumpers? Perhaps some of this is
generic.

The drive has a DIP switch. I understand the termination, and drive select addr
switches. However, there are three other labeled postitions on the
DIP: MX,HS,HM. Any ideas what these do?

There are also two jumpers on the logic board. One is unlabeled but has
"DC and RDY" as its two positions. The other is labeled "SS" and has
"T2 and DS" as its two positions.

The reason I'm fishing, is that so far on double density disks, I have yet
to get it to do anything but recognize single density format. I haven't
tried a HD disk yet, and there are some software issues that may be the
real point. But I thought I'd ask about the jumpers and dip in case anyone
recognizes them.
